Completed ProjectsMiningPolymetal
Russia has inherited major deposits of gold and silver from the Soviet Union. Surpassing the international average in size, these natural riches offered attractive opportunities for investment. ICT Group first decided to go into the mining business in 1996. Polymetal MNPO was established two years later, in 1998, in a bid to give Russia an advanced, integrated precious metals mining company, spanning the entire cycle from prospecting to nugget. Polymetal, a specialist holding group, was created virtually from scratch, incorporating prospecting, engineering and mining operations. ICT Group pulled out of the project in 2005, in order to consolidate its profits and focus on other priorities. Polymetal MNPO is currently the 8th largest silver mining company in the world, and 2nd largest precious metals producer in Russia.

Following phase one of its sweeping refurbishment, Baltiyskiy Zavod has emerged as one of the most advanced and productive shipbuilders in the world. ICT Group sold its Baltiyskiy Zavod shares to United Industrial Corporation in 2005 as part of its asset restructuring drive.

In the late 1990s, the almost complete absence of quality office space and housing on the market in Moscow and St. Petersburg made investment in property development singularly attractive. ICT Group was active in the construction market of both Moscow and St. Petersburg from 1997 through 2000. Once profitability took a downturn in the sector, the group decided to diversify into other, faster-growing and more promising markets, such as gold and silver mining. Nonetheless, ICT has a lot to show for the few years it spent in the property development business, having proved its ability to start projects from scratch in a new sector, and make them a success.
